Found this in my parents cellar, fragmented fruit, some VA but still very alive. Not particularly leathery or tobacco but very complex, not much tannin but has phenolic bitterness

What a surprise, from the farthest back corner of the wine cellar. Too cold unfortunately, cloudy from suspended stuff. Nice dark color with orange edges of course. Still showing some fruit but not the high notes; sweetness in the finish. No off flavors or weirdness. More nose than most wines of any age I've had lately. Bought at Beltramo's for $9, way back when, probably during sabbatical at Stanford 1984. Very nice with burritos from Anna's, a scene sort of like the one at the end of Sideways. A really remarkable wine, worthy of fine dark Swiss chocolate..
