Rideau Vineyard
Château Duplantier Cuvée Red Blend
Reddish in color with a wide reddish rim.
Nice nose of red and black fruits with earth, light wood, spices, coffee and dark chocolates.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Fruit forward and dry on the palate with black fruits, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso, dark chocolates, earth and herbs.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This delicious red blend from Santa Barbara County is drinking very nicely now. Nicely balanced with nice complexity. Elegant and spicy.
I had this vintage 5 years ago, and decided to give it more time in the bottle to mature. Showing much more complexity now, than the last time I had it.
Peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years.
I did not decant it this time, and let it open up in the bottle. After 3 hours of airtime, more red fruits show up.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with burger and fries.
A blend of 35% Syrah, 25% Mourvedre, 21% Grenache and 19% Petite Sirah. Aged in used French oak barrels for 22 months.
14.1% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
$50 (at release).

This is a very enjoyable Rhône blend from Santa Barbara County. Spicy and well balanced with mild complexity and a soft mouthfeel.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, black currants, oak, vanilla, spices, vegetables, bitter herbs, light vegetables, pencil lead, peppercorn, dark coffee, barnyard and earth.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.
The nose smells like a new world Pinot Noir, the palate is more like a fruity Côtes du Rhône. Very interesting.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (90 minutes).
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim.
Nose of blueberries, red cherries, strawberries, red currants, oak, spices, earth, leather, wet leaves, light barnyard, vegetables, light vanilla, tobacco leaf, pencil lead, dust, spices and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs. Soft and elegant.
Dry on the palate with plums, black currants, cherries, sweet raspberries, tobacco, spices, wood, vanilla, cloves, dark coffee, tobacco leaf, bitter greens, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Long finish with very soft tannins and bitter herbs.
This Rhône blend from Santa Barbara County is elegant and earthy. Nicely balanced with nice complexity. Feels like an old world wine, like a Northern Rhône red with a touch of an aged burgundy. Very interesting.
Probably still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature. I'd like to revisit this vintage in 2 to 3 years.
Needs 90 minutes to open up properly, so be patient.
A good sipping wine to sip on and talk about, and a good food wine too.

Apr 2nd, 2020A fine effort with deep plums and rich Bing cherry. Hints of anise, leather, and that Santa Ynez terroir. Could've laid this up even longer, but hey it's the holidays. A great pairing with a proper cheese board.
