A tasting of nine Rhys Pinot Noirs from the 2008 & 2009 vintages. Jeff Brinkman, Rhys winemaker joined our group. This was my #1 with that smoked meat:umami character that I love. Note: (@Delectable does not list it as such but it is Sonoma Coast)

Wish I had more. Surprisingly primary - driven by wild raspberry and candied rose that is precise and vividly clear. Notes of black and roibos tea, dried leaves, tobacco with a solid tannic structure and refreshing acidity. This is very enjoyable but not close to peak
