Reverie
II Kenefick Ranch Cabernet Franc
We visited these guys earlier this year and had a wonderful visit. Incredible views overlooking the valley. They make quite a few wines, and a few that are obscure...barbera, Marsanne/Roussanne Blend, Tempranillo, a few cabs and this cab franc.
I’m surprised at how accessible this bottle is compared to when we tasted at the winery...it was incredibly young then, but is quite open now. Dense. Cinnamon, blackberry pie, milk chocolate and cocoa on the nose. A small bit of cab franc’s signature spice, but it’s very fruit forward on the palate. Black cherry, licorice, plum, sweet oak and currant.

Deep purplish ruby red. Lovely nose with dark flowers, anise, spices, cinnamon, cassis, light iron and some woody notes too. Young and it shows. Medium plus to heavy tannins (6.5+/10) with medium plus body. Elegant palate with cinnamon, spices, black cherries, a touch of coconut, black berries in the back and crushed rocks. Long finish. Drink till 2027.
