Renaud Bruyere & Adeline Houillon
La Croix Rouge Arbois Chardonnay
Badly corked. Ironically, one of the people at the dinner, unbeknownst to me, had the wine the night before and said it was great . He promised to open one of his remaining bottles for me.

Jun 28th, 2023This is the Vielles Vignes, but Delectable does not offer a choice between all of the cuvées, which is perhaps understandable, as they all share the same front label.
The nose is packed with lemon, a bit of pineapple and reduction. There is so much going on in the palate, but the balance is just impeccable. Acidity, fruit, minerality, the little hint of lemony bitternes and the sense of old barrel, none of them takes too much of your attention.

A little bit shy nose at first. Reductive with a lot of gunpowder. Palate is more open with concentrated citrus, mineral. Would love to try it in a few years.

Jul 14th, 2022A stellar expression of chardonnay. The density, length, and energy reminded me of a great Chablis!
Lemons, sea spray, flint, hay, like having electricity running over your tongue. Such a deep minerality. Needs lots of air to flesh out some fruit richness. What a beautiful wine - if only it was easier to come by these days.
