Can't go wrong with Louis/Dressner even with an unfamiliar wine and/or region. A sweet, sparkling rose of Gamay and Poulsard using Methode ancestrale, where producers make a sweet wine and bottle the juice while it is still fermenting. The fermentation continues in the bottle with no additional yeast or dosage resulting in a low alcohol (7.0%) sparkling wine with residual sugar. Medium plus concentration ruby pink. Fruit forward freshly crushed grapes, raspberry coulis. Refreshing, persistent effervescence dissipates quickly on the palate which also features light body, low acid and low heat. Aromas are confirmed on the palate, sweetness is well balanced not syrupy. Perception of sweetness outlasts the fruit on the short finish. Good aperitif or light dessert wine.

My first wine from the Savoie region of France, the 2013 Renardat-Fâche Vin du Bugey Cerdon Sparkling Rosé is a charming demi-sec, with perky bubbles and lilting, expressive notes of red raspberries and juicy Balaton cherries cradled in a bouquet of heirloom roses. It's the color of pint taffeta, that exact shade found in 50s lawn party dresses. The entire bottle speaks of summertime and bounteous ease. Slightly sweet, this bubbly pink will pair nicely with light berry desserts.
