Wonderfully fragrant with notes of cinnamon gum, amaretto, leather shop, white mushroom, spiced plum on the nose. Mellow notes of cherry pie, buttery crust, with hints of marzipan on the palate with smooth tobacco and cinnamon on a nice lingering finish. Drink by itself! :)

Feb 8th, 2020Perhaps like a gentleman of the same age as this wine, this was not in its prime, but still had plenty of strength and was quite enjoyable.

Mar 29th, 2019On to the reds for the ‘59 fest. The fruit is fresh and lush, tart cherry, herbs, slight stony undertone, a bit of eucalyptus. Crazy good...no one could possibly guess the age. Not so true for me...

Dec 27th, 2018A wine for food. Drank with a nicely prepared seared duck breast and seared foie gras. Picked up a subtle smokiness on the nose and on the finish. Lightly spiced red and black fruits. Still a youthful wine and nicely balanced. This was the Grand Echezeaux. Not the Gevry.
