Red Cap Vineyards
Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Beautiful structure! This is nice for drinking young but also should age gracefully.

Legs were model-esque long and the combo of earthiness, dark cherries enhanced the super well balanced and lovely mouth feel perfectly. Buying up whatever else I can find. 300 cases produced.

1 person found it helpfulSep 2nd, 2016This is probably my favorite 2011 wine. Mountain fruit is already my jam, and what Red Cap did here in a difficult vintage is insane. This drinks well above the $100 price point (usually priced around $70/bottle). On the nose, blackberry, fig and Cedar. The nose on this after an hour is so unreal. On the palate, Bing cherry, cola, very slight hint of toasted oak, strawberry cream. At under $75 and from Howell Mountain, you are hard pressed to find a better value.

Apr 8th, 2017Finally got my hands on the 2011 vintage! Intriguing nose with dark fruits, eucalyptus and a hint of pipe smoke. Great palate that retains good acidity and has a long finish. 2011 mountain fruit is drinking well!

Jan 28th, 2017Great wine in a shitty year. These Cab grapes were beautifully tucked away in their own mountainous microclimate as the rest of the Valley's harvest disappointed.
Sure another quinquennium of aging would have been preferred, but this wine makes special occasions!
One of the best Napa Cabernets for my palate.
