Corpinnat Terrers Brut Nature Macabeo-Xarel-lo-Parellada
So this is rather lovely. Close your eyes and it’s champagne but honestly, who cares? It’s Corpinnat and it’s fantastic. Pale shimmering gold in the glass with medium effervescence and nice small bubbles. Quite a bit of apple notes on initially on the nose. Almond slivers and beautiful citrus fruit. There’s a reoccurring note of vanilla to go with the brioche aromas.
As a newcomer to Corpinnat, I really wasn’t sure what to expect but this really is just that good. Such an interesting blend consisting of 58/32/10 Xarel-lo/Macabeo/Monastrell. Disgorged in February of 2021 after 60 months of aging with no dosage. The acidity is lively but not quite bracing, especially by day 2. It certainly drinks as if it were more mature than it is, delightful in all aspects.
The palate is fresh, engaging, and generous. It opens itself up to you immediately. Here citrus takes center stage with lemons and a bit of apricot. Red cherries wave hello with some warm spice. The finish is long and lusty and leaves you wanting more. This is so fun.
