Friends and Family Red Blend

This Virginian wine was just beautiful! It smelled like a cherry pop tart, but one that you knew your great grandmother made deep in the cellar after kneading the dough all day and filling it with fresh cherries and served with some Brie on the side. More red fruit on the nose, raspberries, and again, it had this creaminess to it, where you truly could pair this with anything. As it opened, the acid made the red fruit brighten, so the second glass was different than the first. Really glad my gal pal was able to join the wine club and get her hands on one of these!!

A very pleasant, drinkable wine, but not a lot of depth. Blackberries, currants, and cigar box.

Lovely but needs more time in the bottle. Soft tannins, traditional Bordeaux blend. Not much of a nose!

Somm recommendation. Well balanced but pronounced acidity and fruit. Somm thinks of it as the best VA wine, and I’m inclined to agree.

I’d put this up against any Bordeaux blend in the US at that price range. Balanced acidity and good fruit. Definitely the earthier tones of a right bank Bordeaux, but not as sweet
