Raymond Vineyard & Cellar
Reserve Selection Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
2012 Wretchedly bad example of a fine grape. It is almost criminal to treat sauv blanc this poorly. Acrid aftertaste and unbalanced oak ruin what should be a good wine. Perfect for serving friends you hate.

Nov 10th, 2014I have to start this off with one note: I think Raymond is one if the best wineries out there under $80. With this I mind, I was a bit disappointed here, although some is personal preference. Strong characteristics of green apple and honeydew melon. This is accompanied by a grapefruit flavor with very limited acidity and hints of lemon. The oak shows through well limiting the usual crispness associated with Sauvignon Blancs. My best description if this is a Chardonnay masked as a Sauvignon Blanc. It is heavier than expected, with citrus flavors surrounded by balanced oak. If you love Chardonnay and are looking for a smooth transition to Sauvignon Blanc, this is a great choice.
