Oh crud I wrote a long thing about Ravenswood being family but like a family that...nevermind I cut it and apparently not in a way to paste.
Generously dried fruity. Coca Cola. Those in between tannins and abv and you, blind tasted might think it a friendly Cali blend but hell its just friendly.

Successful comedy show performance calls for solid wine. And I love Ravenswood. I reviewed the lower price point recently and to be truthful I love both for different reasons. This wine is a rather boozy and also acidic with medium tannins so actually think it could use a couple more years—maybe. It is so much dried cherry, dried vanilla bean and a fistful of earth.

This review is wine for my goshdarned people!. Because my podcast has been covering grocery store faves of listeners figured I should write about this Vons/Ralph’s fave possibly again. I should check I’ve likely covered before...It holds up. Balanced in every dang way. Dry with medium acid, medium minus tannins, as for alcohol...I’m guessing, well heck it’s so smooth I think maybe deceptive. 13.5? Anddddd (imagine me scurrying from my tasting seat to the fridge to investigate) I was indeed deceived by the plushness of these ripe tannins it is 14.5 abv what do you know! Body is full, flavor intensity is full but not too complex. Then come berries spice and raisins. But so fucking delicious—this is a wine that would get wine ratings people in arms. How do you rate a wine that doesn’t confound you but just makes you way happy?! Ravenswood at most levels usually seems to please me extraordinarily and I will not get into ratings baloney. If you listen to the podcast know I stand behind my Ravenswood forevs analysis. Shit is gonna be SO delightful if you wanna think about it you’ll find something if not holy heck just enjoy! The dried cherry, the ripe tannin, the silky alcohol level hell this grocery store wine might even be a desert island wine.

Very solid example of classic testable Sonoma Co. Zin, and only $12! More $ for Nebbiolo, Bdx, Riesling and Wh Burgs!

Very woody nose, but not overwhelming. Cherry and cinnamon in there too. Tannic sour, right off. Needs to open a little.

black currant forward, hollow mid palate, finish is decent but not complex. Maybe it will get better with age?
