2001 vintage. What a surprise. This is the year that Joel " no wimpy wines" Peterson sold the Ravenswood brand to Constellation. Still a solid colour. Shows its age more in the caramel nose than in the taste. Still hanging in there, with dried fruits, spices and good acidity. Not very long and the alcohol is a bit too obvious in the finish, but still a nice drink.

Dec 1st, 2022Um erg Ravenswood...I always am just waiting for disappointment. And I’m always so keen on this wine. RIPE! Fun. There is acid balance and it isn’t...fresh but not in an icky way. It is...what I feel excited about when I think Lodi Zin ❤️

Jan 23rd, 2020Straight forward notes of blackberry jam, notes of licorice and cherry kir. All a little difficult to extract. The black berry fruit follows through on the palette but signature old vine concentration of fruit, prune and earth are lacking. A tasty bottle. Not ravenswoods best. But a sharp label.

Rich black berries and raspberries mingle with hot earth. Black and green bell pepper are also there, as well as a smell of old timber. The palette is rich and full - there may be a touch of Syrah in there - the dark fruits meld into sweet, black earth. The finish lingers into pleasant oakyness.
