Bell pepper, leather, light tobacco and tart cherry nose. Light tannin and slightly hot. Heavy but smooth. Paired with truffle cheddar and beet horseradish relish.

Dark(!) red purple in the glass. Glass not appropriate to get a good nose. Palate of blackberries, black plum, and ashen blueberry cobbler. Firm tannins and medium plus acidity. Lip-smackin' glass of all that's good about Napa from Brian Graham.

Grilled meat and peppers, celery, searing oak, and blackberry compote with mouth drying tannin. Some secondary earth and tobacco rounds this out. Certainly not worth the $65 list, but not a bad buy at under $30.
