Light bodied, dry but ripe cherries and strawberries on the nose, finishes with mild tannins. Better on its own but does stand up with meals. Didn't get much in the way of smoke, earth, mineral character.

Just had our first dinner in Varenna and it was very good, local all the way and a bit different. Fried cheese balls, cocoa and saffron pasta with porcine mushrooms and grilled lake fish. Had some Lugano white made from Trebbiano which was very good, full bodied with good acid. Had this red as well, 2012. Very nice and light, great with lake fish. Of course finished off the night with an unnamed Grappa.
