Raevskoye
Viognier
Tasted 17/09/2016
I had a chance to track genesis of very first Viognier vintage by Raevskoe as had dozen of these since 2014. Here's the last one - bit nervous, yet still enjoyable & kinda elegant.
Pale straw yellow.
Quite shy and discreet nose of creamy biscuits, sandalwood, pineapple, lemon peels, camomile, white raspberry.
Autumnal palate of light+ body. Balanced acidity and primordium of bitterness evident of withering process. Lemon, green apple, white grapefruit peels, white currant, carambola nuances.
Tangy bitterness at lovely rounded finish of medium length, scented by carambola, pear, white plum.
Pair: grilled seabass.

Having in background 2 great reds by Raevskoe, my expectations were high. And I'm glad to notice those come true.
Bright, crisp, delicate Viognier is of pale straw colour with subtle yet lovely complex nose. Flavors of pear, pomelo, peach, jasmine, acacia, sage, sea breeze, pineapple, passionfruit enveloping your imagination tenderly.
On palate it switch to pear lemonade, white currant, yellow plum, lime, ripe apple hints.
White currant and lime define finish, accompanied by tandem of acidity and minerality.
Crustaceans, oysters and light desserts are perfect to enjoy Viognier at maximum extent!
