Quinta de Chocapalha
Family Estate Red Blend
This 6 year old, Portuguese red, has a Beautiful color. Deep purple with a burgundy rim.
Fruity on the nose with blackberries, blueberries, figs, wild flowers, vanilla, Brandy, toasted oak, alcohol, cherries, caramel, chocolates, smoke, coffee, licorice and black pepper.
Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and great looking legs.
Dry on the palate with currants, blackberries, cherries, wood, chocolates, vanilla, licorice, tobacco and black pepper.
Medium plus on the finish with firm tannins, sour strawberries, and light bitter greens.
A very nice Portuguese blend of 45% Tinta Roriz, 25% Touriga Nacional, 15% Castelão, 10% Syrah and 5% Alicante-Bouschet.
Enjoyable by itself or with hearty food . I Paired it with a cheese plate and dry fruits.
I liked the nose way more than the palate. Hot at the back of the throat, but nicely balanced otherwise.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
