A very lively blackberry note coming from the nose and developing further on the palete. I'm also getting a bit of cedar and mintiness finishing with a spicy hot finish that really is quite nice. Only light tannin and the acidity is medium here, but the mouthfeel is substantial. I find that as I get more familiar with the native Portugese grapes, I think of them less as just components of port (which I'm far more familiar with) and more as components in these great table wines. This wine is labeled as organic as well.
