Prothro Family Wines Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2018 Napa Valley, California

It's time for my
#FridayCabernetfix.
Here is a delicious Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose of black currants, black plums, sweet cherries, licorice, oak, dark chocolates, earth, dark coffee, herbs and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, black currants, coffee, oak, spices, chocolates, tobacco, licorice, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth, light vanilla and light vegetables.

Nice length on the finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a very tasty Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley. Rich and intense, and a good sipping wine, with a beautiful nose. The tangy finish makes it interesting.

I usually get lots of bell pepper notes with Cabernet Franc, but not here, which I liked.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and remove some of the acidity, so be patient. It is worth it.

A good food wine, and good by itself as well, once it opens up. Alcohol is nicely integrated by now, so watch out.

Still young and starting to drink nicely now. Would be interesting to revisit it in 5 years. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Will pair nicely with lamb chops. I had it with a fatty Brie cheese.

A blend of 99% Cabernet Franc with some Petit Verdot and Merlot. Aged for 22 months in oak barrels. A tiny production of only 1 barrel.

14.7% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$68.
