My first Instigator. Not quite to the level of the Brawler. Leaned more to the classic California syrah. Still great #qpr

I like the 14 prospect brawler over this, but I thought this was better than a limerick lane and venge syrah (coravin flight). 92 pts wine enthusiast. 2012 was 94 pts wine spectator.

Feb 5th, 2018Phenomenal qpr at 36 bucks. This was our syrah blind tasting night winner. Meaty, powerful syrah. Brawler and instigator are top rate syrahs. Beautiful property in calaveras county (sierra foothills). Ron is a great guy.

Smoky, meaty, BBQ-ee nose. It actually changed in my nose. Wide in the mouth, wonderful narrow berry neither dry nor sweet - just right.

The instigator isn't pictured because they stopped production for a while. They are bringing it back soon with new 2017 syrah fruit from Shake Ridge vineyard (blocks FAVIA and KEPLINGER source).
The brawler ($39) and black tie charlie ($27) are big wines. The Truant GSM and Brat Syrah-Grenache are more elegant relatively. Brighter.
