Proper Wines
Walla Walla Valley Syrah
Walla Walla Valley, Oregon/Washington, USA

A couple of years since my last btl. On the nose: lovely soft rocks funk (stewed, spiced cabbage?), loads black raspberry, olive brine, cola...fantastic aromatics. On the palate: very good acidity, cola, green herbs, more black raspberry, slightly creamy in texture...creamy finish, with largely attenuated tannin, but a touch of grip. Solid...but has this already peaked?

Aug 2nd, 2015Really good meaty funk. I've heard the term "backward wine" and I didn't know what it meant until now. I tasted the funk b4 the fruit but still had nice fruit. Supposedly this is a characteristic of some very well regarded Washington syrahs. I dig it, good stuff.
