However this is a very focused red from cesanese grape. It's smooth, but vibrant with more evident complexity in the aftertaste rather than on the nose
Quite long and easy drinking

Unusual expression of Cesanese
Piero Maciocca only makes few thousands bottles of Mozzatta, but the other labels are even smaller prodictions.
This resembles so much an aglianico, it has a tannin never seen in a Cesanese.
Nose is funky to start and never gives to much while the palate after some hours is decently enjoyable.
It was an experiment to see how this wine would age, i have a 2010 as well, but personally i would recommend to enjoy wines made from cesanese younger.

Priore Mozzatta Cesanese del Piglio 2010 - La Visciola. 24 euro. Rosso rubino. Naso intenso, abb complesso, quasi fine. AlcolicitĂ un po' prepotente, abb armonico. Tannino un po' mordente. Coerente in bocca il frutto.
