Raspay Reserva Alicante Monastrell

Family operated since 1780! Mature. Spiced red fruits with leather, tobacco, and powdery tannin. Nice, rustic Monastrell. Still drinks like aged Rioja.

This showcases a perfect marriage of place and grape. 100% Monastrell full of Alicante sunshine but still very fresh and elegant.

This stuff is incredible for the price. Oxidative agridulce Rioja reserva on top of dense purple monastrell. '08 is current release to boot.

2008

Surprisingly high acidity, good concentration, old-world aromas, not weird, not funky, not flabby. 3-dimensional and invites more drinking. Nothing forced and feels free. Nebbiolo-like structure. Good accompaniment to Busoni. Makes life little bit better. Excellent.

2010

Bone dry. Pairs well with fatty meats and pickle vegetables.

Super!! A good wine with cheese. Oxidized.

Raisins and dried plum. A little thin and not much body.

Dark, oak, pungent, full, reminds me of leather
