This simple Pinot Noir from Monterey County is easy drinking and a nice sipping wine.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate, fruit forward and spicy.

Showing raspberries, cherries, spices, herbs and black pepper.

Spicy finish with soft tannins.

Feels like a light Cotes du Rhône red.

Good right out of the bottle and good by itself.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

86 points.

Bright currant on the nose that leads to a surprisingly lush feel on the palate for its price. As it opens it continues to soften and gracefully fall back in its place with an even and satisfying finish.

My first thought was there is no way this is only 13.5% like it says. The nose is a touch harsh and off-putting at first, but it mellows and becomes very drinkable. For a $15 wine, you could do a lot worse. The rest of the folks at the table loved this wine, so I'm not the majority here.
