Poncho Criollo
Mendoza Malbec
Much too sweet for my taste.
Blackberry and meat juice on the nose along with a touch of pencil lead. The palate is very sweet / round with residual sugars there and a bright blackberry note. It's not jammy but there is sweet spot in there. The sweetness overthrows the acid backbone and even the subtle tannic effect in mid palate. That's too bad! I would have loved a dryer effort.

Cheap and cheerful... Like, super cheap... A 1L bottle for this price that is drinkable is a coup, but for it to actually taste pretty good is insane. Not bad at all

Apr 14th, 2017I was hoping for a good table wine, but found this one has lots of tannins, no legs to speak of, and lacking in the kind of fruit taste. Also did not improve with breathing.

Mar 7th, 2016I was expecting more. Didn't have as much fruity depth as I was expecting. Only slightly jammy. Very simple red.
