Nose has ripe plum, ripe blackberry, over-ripe strawberry, (light) anise, (light) sous-bois, dark chocolate bar, prune, year-old hay and moist leather.

Palate has chalky plum, dark chocolate, dried cherry, dried rose petals, autumn leaves, black tea, (light) cedar shavings and licorice on the very long finish. Outstanding.

Decanted ~2 hours. Purchased 30 December 2005, and carefully cellared until this day. Paired with a scratch made thick, rustic tomato sauce, sweet+hot sausage from a local, recent partial pig purchase and great campanelle pasta. Oh man, great paring, last bottle 😞.

Anyone holding this wine could until 2020+, based on the amount of tannins still present, this wine certainly has some years prior to decline.

Not just one of the best Sangiovese I've had but one of the best wines I've had in a while. Enjoyed with beef tongue ala Milanese. Molto Fantastico!

On the nose, stewed, slightly sweet & sour cherries, strawberries, red licorice/cola, dry hay, soft, understated green pepper, loamy soils, limestone and bright red, fresh florals. The mouthfeel is lush, rich, round and still fresh. The tannins are soft and nearly completely resolved. It's right around it's peak 20 years down the road. Sweet & slightly sour cherries, poached strawberries, cranberry juice, strawberry licorice/cola, red fresh florals, soft, elegant limestone minerals, crushed dry rocks, dry stones, dry hay, suede style leather, round mouth watering acidity and a long elegant finish that lasts well over a minute. The owners are Giancarlo and Nuccia Glode. They purchased the winery in 1984. The Winemaker's are Alberto Montefiori & Paola Gloder. 80 acres of the estate are under vine. Of these, around 38 arces were planted in 70s and are in the process or have been replanted in order to accommodate more dense plantings. Oak use is new Slovenian oak barrels and 500 Liter French oak barrels. The two different sizes of barrels affect bouquet and tannin differently. Total production is 90-95,000 bottles or 7,700 cases. Photos of; the estate, large oak vats, tasting room and grounds. Beautiful property!

Either you like them or you don't, I think you would be hard pressed not to like this. Maple syrup nose and roses. Nose follows through on the palate with hints of sweet cherry, tea and cedar. Fruit still in play with slightly high acidity, makes this wine super enjoyable. Leather and minerals come through for a sustained finish.
