Poggi
Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon
Poggi Wines Dimond Mountain District Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, California
It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix! Here is a great mountain fruit Napa Cabernet.
Pretty color of dark ruby with a reddish cloudy rim.
Fruity nose with blueberries, raspberries, plums, sweet cherries, light vanilla, dark chocolates, oak, coffee, earth and leather.
Medium to full-bodied and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, earth, oak, vanilla, spices, chocolates, tobacco leaf, light vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This Napa Cabernet is very enjoyable now as a 4 year old. Well balanced and tangy on the ending, interesting and elegant.
Good by itself or with food.
The nose is quite different from the palate, which surprised me for the better.
Wine Enthusiasts 88 points.
This Single Vineyard needs a couple of hours to open up properly, remove some acidity and show tannins. This will get even better in the next 3 to 8 years
I had it all by itself and really enjoyed it. Tasty and delicious.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged for 22 Months in 100% French Oak (50% New). A very small production of 1000 bottles.
14.4% alcohol by Volume.
91 points.
$75.
