Podere Le Ripi
Lupie Sirene Riserva Brunello di Montalcino
Dense but incredibly expressive. Macerated black cherry, candied strawberry, saddle leather, and chamomile. A swirl of chocolate, cedar, and exotic spices in the finish. Wow.

Oct 21st, 2015A fresh, bright wine. Tasted a lot of cherry, raspberries, and espresso. Drinking well now, but probably should get a bit more cellar-time.

Mar 16th, 20241hr+ decant. Maroon color with caramel edges. Somewhat CDP and Amarone like. Nice mix of tannins and sweetness. Nice!

Mar 9th, 2024Drank with Tuscan chicken and orzo for dad’s 80th birthday. Maryland crew was there. Good pairing. Very good wine probably towards the end of its drinking window. Smooth, good light fruit.

Jan 15th, 2023Never had wine from this producer before. Quite wonderful. At this stage of age needs about 30 mins for some oak to blow off, but then it’s quite in balance with with wonderful fruit, solid acid, nice long finish, and great mouthfeel and texture. Quite delicious.

May 30th, 2022Finally an Italian wine I like! More Amarone than Brunello in my mind. Medium red color. Sweetness throughout with dark fruit. Medium depth and finish. Went perfectly with pizza. I really enjoyed this!

Oct 24th, 2021Very very good. I was going to stop there but I'll try not to be lazy....
This needed a good hour of air. Quite farmy on the open. Leaning garnet, medium intensity appearance. Tertiary aromas of milk chocolate, soil, mint overlaying cherry and rose petals. Medium plus alcohol, medium acidity, tannins medium plus but just barely bitter. Finish medium.

Brunello after Brennan’s bday - drinking wonderfully.

Nov 16th, 2019Best of the Le Ripi tasting (much better than the esteemed Bonsai IMHO). Not sure it is built for the longhaul but it is an incredibly balanced wine. Though maybe a bit overpriced for a Riserva from an under the radar producer.
