Vigna Cristiana Boca Nebbiolo Blend

Brilliant showing. So much energy and unreal inner mouth perfume. Nose is all roses and tar. Cherries will develop. Drinking perfectly. Huge concentration and depth. Awesome mid season cherry fruit and a terrific finish.

Outstanding. Superb and sweeping aromatics of flowers and mid season cherry and a tiny hint of plum. Gorgeous. Tobacco and florals for days. So juicy, dense and elegant with glorious fruit and juiciness. Intense minerality on the finish and velvety but substantial and perfectly ripe tannins. Long finish.

Been exactly a year and a week since I’ve had this and wow is it showing well. Huge nose of mid season cherry, woodsmoke, spices, tar, leather, earth and impressive minerality. Palate is so fresh and just teeming with energy and fruit. Wow. Amazing palate presence. Just demands your attention. Balanced, elegant and wonderful. Lovely hit of opulence in the mid palate leads to an insanely long and complex finish. A wow wine.

Gorgeous nose of woodsmoke, spice, ripe red cherries, chimney, amazing cherry flower, gorgeous purity, such depth and nuance to the nose. Terrific. Mint, herbals. So so so good. Concentrated, so pure, so fresh, gobs of mid season and perfectly defined cherry fruit. Elegant and substantial tannins. Wow, what energy and intensity. What noble structure. So long. Flirting with a 9.5. So balanced. Can go 20 more years. Remarkable.

Been 1.5 years I think since I’ve had this. Roaring nose out of the gates. Big cherry fruit, saddle leather, dried roses, deep mineral imprint, airy and so clean. Dried roses. So many. Smells so old school yet clean. Gonzo out of the gates. Palate is ripe and generous with cigar box, mint and tobacco. So juicy and textured with ripe, generous and abundant tannins. Awesome fruit and depth and terrific inner mouth aromas. So pure and sappy. Amazing freshness. Terrific balance and sense of place. This will be a higher score in 2-5 hours. Book it.

In 2 hours it integrates and is so good. 9.3 to 9.4.

Smoking nose. Leather, tar, tobacco, cherry, so elegant and fine. Mesquite bbq. So old school and expressive. Loads of dirt. Each. Palate has just amazing fruit and density. Such energy and purity. So juicy and so alive. Such a mineral core and lovely, lively amazingly clear fruit.

Rocking showing of this. Needs 30 minutes or so. Roses, underbrush, dried fruit, mint, tobacco, palate is juicy, vibrant and energetic with terrific mid season and sour cherry fruit. Ripe and juicy tannins. Loads of sap and density on the finish. I’ll be back once it opens.

One of the best 97’s I’ve had. Being 2 hours north of the Langhe helped tame the ripeness of the vintage. It’s ripe but but also classic Boca and superbly complex. Big ripe cherries, confectionary cherries, gorgeous roses, huge spice and some funk that takes a few hours to blow off. Tree bark, old library books, spices galore and even sweet mint. Loads of sweaty saddle leather. Just a stunning nose. Also shows some youthful vigor. Palate is supple and sexy with gorgeous purity and freshness. Superbly complex, I mean super super complex with just an explosion of inner moth florals and gorgeous deep mid season cherry fruit. Gorgeous velvety tannins and wonderful freshness and acid. Long, lingering finish that pumps the fruit. Long long finish. Wonderful texture and mid palate opulence but also classically lean Boca that has amazing presence and length. This is terrific.

24 Hour Update:
Nose has roses, moist compost-soil, warm tar, ripe and over-ripe cherries and plum skin. Such a nose, almost don't want to drink it!
Palate has dried cherry, old leather, charcoal dust, light black tea, very gentle tannins and light minerality. A lot of complexity to the palate, just elegant.

Nose has hand crushed cherry over dry Fall leaves, fresh picked pint of red raspberry, red rose, cedar humidor and a touch of alcohol heat on the close, likely this will dissipate over the evening.

Palate has unreal, ridiculous amounts of acidity, fresh cherry, fresh red raspberry, black cherry mash and distant anise.

Unbelievable wine at 25 years young, tannins are strong, this will likely enjoy another 10-15 years with ease. I can't get over the immense finish, so long, acidity is blowing my mind at how much remains after a quarter century in bottle. This is one of 2991 bottles produced for the 1994 vintage, acquired directly from the winery. The cork was solid and very firm, no concerns.

Decanted about 8hr, that was the right amount but another 1-2hr will be fine for future bottles. Paired alongside a slow and low cooked Bolognese sauce over Pappardelle, with a couple hours of cook time more than this decant.
