#newrelease 2014. Where the'13 was all red fruits, this is darker with much more fruit intensity, but still dry with very good integration of oak.
Disclaimer: I import it

I liked the nose, I liked it upfront through mid-palate. Then at the end there is something kinda funky I'm not loving. Funky is the wrong word, bitter may be more accurate as it's like grapes that are way dry and not yet ripe. I'm giving it some air which is helping. Lots of acid, lots of cherry. I am thinking a lot of air may help as even maybe 30 minutes has been beneficial. Ah, the magic of air.

Great cheap, unoaked red. Nice ripe dark berry fruit accompanied by some clean gravelly minerality. Nice balance in the mouth. Dark fruit, stony minerals. A bit of tannin and nice gentle acids. Got it for $10 from garagiste.com. Can't beat that, even with shipping thrown in. I wish there were more unoaked Rioja of this quality level available.

A more fruit-forward style from Rioja Alta. balanced and fresh.

Pingao Rioja 2013. Moderately deep ruby. Crunchy black cherry and a hint of yeasty/brioche note.a in the nose. Turns a little leaner on the palate with red fruit, wet stone and fine grained, silky tannin.
