If you are a fan of Cab Franc—I am—this bottling is worth a try. A tad nondescript at the front end but gives way to a mid-palate hint of dark fruit then finishes off with a dollop of Sichuan pepper and bay leaves. An unusual Chinon on opening. Let’s see where we land in 24 hours. (Next day...pretty much where we started.)

Jan 22nd, 2020Well...if you can’t be in Chinon then at least pour this terrific Cab Franc into the correct glass. Chill slightly and serve with some BBQd baby back pork ribs. A lovely way to see out the summer of 2019. (Taste profile?:
It’s Cab Franc without that awkward vegetative tobacco influence that American consumers rightly ran from. Drink up...or wait till winter for a white bean/roasted leg of lamb cassoulet. ☺️)

Fruit & acid out front here. Approachable tart cherry juice. Tannins are silky. A new producer for me, and one that I will absolutely be revisiting. Accompanied by the debut album from Jake Xerxes Fussell. A great collection of Southern American folk songs. Fussell has a new album coming out in June and is an immensely talented storyteller & songwriter.
