Apparently made only for the US market, this wine had at first an opulent fruity nose, but the palate was tannic and very French. As it opened up, those two sensations merged into a seriously impressive wine - spicy, fruity, and elegant. Sensational. There may be quite a bit of Viognier in this. Also the first wine I've ever bought on auction.

Pierre Gaillard produces wonderfully floral and intense wines from the schist-heavy "Viallieres" vineyard. Nose of fig, violet, and white pepper. White pepper for days in the mouth. A long, round finish. Beautiful.
