Insane florals. Purple rose is accurate. Lilac, violet, cassis, strong black licorice on the bouquet that’s redolent with dank purple florals. Very sensual. Palate is dark purple/and black fruits, but they dance across the palate weightlessly. Ground stone, gunpowder, and dark mineral undertones with a hint of charred fruitwood smoke giving this depth. A bit inky but really silky and gentle at the same time. Intoxicating; you just want to keep your nose in the glass. In an awesome place and can only get better. — a month ago
Pale gold with green tinges. Pleasant perlage with minuscule bubbles that just go on and on. Very pretty visually. Intoxicating aromas of white and purple flowers initially. Mushrooms, grapefruits, and white pears shine along with beautiful chalk. Gorgeous.
The Côte des Blancs really speak clearly through this wine. 100% Chardonnay produced from grapes from four Grand Cru sites, Les Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant, Avize, and Oger. And it shows. An astonishing 40% of reserve wine is added to the blend, which is from a perpetual reserve of wines going back to 1988. Amazing stuff.
This is all very graceful, very refined. Everything in the right place. Full bodied and elegant with racy acidity and exquisite balance and structure. The palate is harmonious with stone and orchard fruits and toast. Quite saline with nice minerality and subtle spice. Real bubbleheads already know everything they need to know about Pierre Peters but if you don’t know, now you know. You’re welcome. — 13 days ago
Nose is stunning. Animal, game, pointed cherry fruit, gorgeous minerals and earthiness. Huge iodine and minerality. Just huge. A sense of sweetness. Wow. Cherry flower. Floral beyond belief. Just a sick nose. Maybe 9.7. Maybe higher.
Palate has energy for days. Teeming with energy and purity. So compact and pure. Terrific sweetness and depth. Tangy and red fruited with very good structure and sweetness. Really open as well. So tangy and deep. Amazingly red fruited compared to all the black fruited 19 Brisset reds. Also Bouillon on the nose.
Nose is really opening. Really opening. Superb clarity and layering. So complete. The fruit is so sweet and gloriously beautiful. Most open of any of the 19 Brisset reds. — 13 days ago
For some reason now any black background Lightbox shot I took delectable will not accept. Really really annoying
Nose is very skeletal, dry and mineral, some lemon rind, lemon cake, lemon pith. Round nose for a Brut Nature. Really nice. Palate is bone dry but super juicy and wow is this mineral. I love this. Such a geeky zero dose bubbly. Man is this mineral like a Mosel. But it’s still got fruit and juiciness. Delish! Nice concentration and terrific lime zest flavors and finished chalky, slatey and fiercely mineral. Wow. Really delineated and linear. And a steal!
Now with air this is killer. More expansive and airy. Palate is sharp and has killer acids and freshness. Bracing! — 7 days ago
I’m sorry I’m advance. I have 1/5th of what I had in 2018 and it’s still largest allocation in the world. So some of you will get shafted.
The usual brilliance on the nose. This is the best BB in the world. Others come close I hear but this is really it for me. Superb florality on the nose. White flowers up the wazoo. Lemon pith, tree bark, superb minerality. Matchstick, flint, lime zest, crushed rocks, a hint of creaminess. And I mean a micro hint. But it’s still there. Huge expansive minerals. So so pretty. Yea that’s the ticket. Superb minerality, texture and more minerality. Superb iodine and salinity. While 18 was more fruity this is more mineral and structured. Just tremendous purity. Amazing balance and terrific delicate concentration. Sappy and mineral sweetness on the finish. And what a finish it is. How does this man make 9.5 BB’s? Just miraculous. Finish is 1er cru level but not as complex. Wow this is so fresh and the acid is wonderful. Just so compact and complete. Sick. Just sick. — 14 days ago
OMFG. This nose is insane. Insane. Just the most pure black cherry ever. God’s Jelly Donut filling. Earthy, graphite? Tiny berry fruit intensity. Wild flower that is crazy. Smells like a scene in nature. Wow, the sweetness is BONKERS. Unreal purity. So balanced and pure. Texture is seamless. Huge amplitude and minerals. Tingly saline mineral note. Minerality and more mineral than the whites. The finish has tiny berry fruit intensity and echoes of flowers. What a finish. How is this better than the Cras?
Now the nose gets herbal. Complexity is off the charts. Raspberry spice cake on the nose now. This is some of the most beautiful fruit I’ve ever had in my life. But the finish is glorious minerals intermingled with fruit. — 13 days ago
Preposterous. Only word for this wine. Stunning nose. Pungent red and black fruits, lovely dusting of earth, floral, lipstick like intensity, so sappy and so pure. Wow what a nose. Just so so expansive. Really detailed, clear and pure. Really is a step up over the 18. Wow what a palate. Froooooooot! I am Froot. I am Froot. I am Froot. Anyway. Gorgeous, clearly defined red cherry fruit with a dash of blackberry and so so pure. Gorgeous earthy minerality. But the purity, decadence and also gamey (Gevrey?) quality of the fruit really are compelling. Wow, inner mouth florals and aromas. Beautiful, elegant and taught structure as well. So so pretty. Sappy, long and dissipating finish. This is an unreal wine. I can’t figure out if it’s a 9.3 or 9.4. The day will decide. Onward! I am Froot!
Palate is getting rounded and this has the elite fruit of Pierre’s higher end wines but doesn’t have the complexity or length. But man that froot and texture.
After 4 hours this has gotten silkier, sweeter and sexier. 9.3 to 9.4. Insane acids. Huge minerals. It dances in the palate. — 14 days ago
More thoughts as it continues opens up.
Lemons, green apple, lime candy/zest, grapefruit w/pith, touch of guava, kiwi, white peach, honeysuckle, vanillin, touch of caramel, saline, sea fossils, grey volcanics, soft chalkiness, spring flowers, excellent acidity & rich polished finish. — 6 days ago
Nose is dynamite. Meyer lemon. Discreet oak. Floral, wet stones, wet earth, peaches? Superb delineation on the nose between, earth, mineral, flowers and fruit. As it opens more lime pith, more slate? Almost Mosel like. Wow, acid, concentration off the charts. Really young, but so clean, so pure and so long. Also initially closed. What density and what amazing material. Really nice texture and again, this is so mineral driven it’s crazy. Such a wealth of material here.
As it airs some spice develops. This seems really backwards and needs time but also is so so fine. Could be Chassagne. Explosive mineral finish and so earthy. This is as old school as St. Aubin gets. Saline, rocky and earthy. But finish is clipped as a function of its youth but man is this promising. — 14 days ago
Nose is so beguiling. Instantly seductive. Slow ox then 3 hrs in the decanter. Beautiful wine. So mineral. Meyer lemon, candied fruits, wet stone, vanillin. Palate does a delicate dance before a huge finish. Slightly closed right now, give these time and/or air. Lovely stuff. — 6 days ago
