Pierre Brisset
Premier Cru Pommard Pinot Noir
Pommard, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France

The king is back. Exquisitely mineral nose. Pommard stoniness. Florals like crazy. Unreal spice. Exotic perfume. But the palate is the star of the show. Absolutely mind bending. Juicy, nimble, so refined and pure. Huge concentration and lush. It’s tight and spicy now but man is this just an incredible bottle of Pommard. Very age worthy. So elegant and still holding its Pommard frame. Just awesome. Let’s see what air does. On day 2 this has a glorious mid palate but of opulence. Nose is so mineral. Floral/mineral. Unreal fruit soak on the palate and extraordinary tannins.

Transcendence. No one does Cote de Beaune like Brisset. Mid season cherry that is so vivid I feel like I am hallucinating actual cherries. Super stoney and so so complex. Just insane. My god this man doesn’t miss. Palate is an orb of stunning perfection. All silk and sweetness. My god. The fruit clarity is just beyond anything the tannins are so clear, so delicate yet so Pommard. The back end is so clear and a bit truncated now but air will do this justice. The finish lingers. And lingers. And lingers. The fruit is so clear I can’t stop typing it. The finish just is so perfectly crafted. What a wine. Nose now has a hint of reduction that will blow off, some stoniness, some umami and just wow. 9.8 nose. 9.8 palate. This is the true delicate monster if there ever was one. So Pommard and yet so Brisset. The acid is just perfect as is the texture. Needs air. 9.7 for now. Will go up. What a wine now that it’s gotten some air. The nose is just amazing. Some milk chocolate now. Now it’s filling out and the texture is more velvet and the acid is vibrant and piquant. That sweetness is judged so perfectly. We are at 9.8 now. Wow the delineation is nuts here as is the liberality. The tannins are picking up steam but this is so so classy. Insane inner mouth aromas. Not touching for two hours. Now the finesse is in effect after an hour and it’s so juicy. Huge concentration and depth. So Pommard and yet to Brisset. Genius. Oh wow! The nose is a 10.0 today. Indescribable. Unreal depth. Stoney, decaying sweet earth, wild mint. So breathtaking. Palate is just stunning. So deep, so concentrated and just stunning tiny red fruits that caress, mildly explode and linger. This is genius.

Wow. So floral. Milk chocolate covered cherries. Massive minerality. Deep and sinewy. Palate is so dense and so complex. Juicy and closed and has the most amazing fruit. Huge acid and a clipped finish. Out of balance but the guts are all there. This is a revisit. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Big tannins. Needs time. Graceful. After 7 hours this is insane. Nose is mossy and stoney. Deep. Wild. Feral. Palate is so supple, so elegant and has the most stunning late breaking tannins. Stoney as Pommard is but my goodness what stunning finesse. 9.6 to 9.8. Awesome concentration and depth. Really deep. My goodness that nose on day 2. Unreal depth. Moss. Mineral. Stones. Wild mint. Sweet black cherry. So awesome. Perfect balance and big Pommard tannins but so rustic. So elite. Weightless yet has so much weight.

From charmots / argillieres / on the beaune side. What a nose, stoney, crazy, herbal, floral like nothing else. soy? Tree bark, early season cherry, limestone, licorice, light licorice, pink/white flowers, spice, fragrant and aromatic, yea just the most, wow, There’s the fruit. The finish is extraordinary. Haunting.

What a wild wine.
Needs an hour decant.
It has this very brisset combination of brooding fruit. Insane precision. Minerality. Balance. Juiciness. Length. And gorgeous internal aromatics. Moments of perfection as it aerates internally. Savory.
Nose becomes this whisper of lilacs and roses with air. Like God’s Volnay.
I’m not sure if I’m supposed to wait 5 years or decant or what. Note: decant. Better in 3-5 years. Maybe more.

Nose: deep dense cherry. A hint of smoke. Pink rose perfume as this opens.
Palate: dense cherries. Classic Brisset precision. Laser like balancing acidity. Almost savory as it opens. Spectacularly delicious but so well made.
