First time trying a Gigondas, and I don't mind it. This particular bottle is a bit unbalanced though, a bit too tart on the finish and lacking in body, generally. It does have a nice range of flavours though, reminiscent of what makes rhone so attractive In the first place. I did, however, learn that red wine doesn't go with truffled risotto. Too starchy, too much sugar... it actually kills the wine. Who knows why it took me this long to figure this out.
