Petaluma
Evans Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
I don’t know what it’s been like where you are, but here in regional VIC we’ve had some pretty wet and wild weather lately and that’s had me craving some good red wine 🍷
This Petaluma 2015 Coonawarra Evans Vineyard red is a new release and is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. A big thank you to the team for sending this sample our way to taste 🥰
The grapes 🍇 were hand picked and the wine was matured for 20 months in new French oak barrels before being bottled in 2017. I do love when wineries do some of the aging for you, it takes away the temptation of you drinking it far too early. Of course this wine is still very much in its infancy and will further delight for many years to come 😋
In the glass it’s a deep purple red shade. Notes of fruits of the forest, moss, coffee beans and dark chocolate rise up from the glass. While in the mouth those dry age-worthy tannins are balanced quite nicely by juicy moreish red and black fruits. One for the decanter or cellar for sure!
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
