Peña
Red Blend
Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, blueberries, cherries, licorice, oak, earth, light vegetables, pencil lead, chocolates, smoke, spices, tobacco leaf and peppercorn.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, black currants, wood, light vanilla, tobacco leaf, cloves, herbs, spices, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth and black pepper.
Medium minus on the finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice GSM from Spain. Nicely balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. Showing mild complexity and a nice mouthfeel.
Needs 30 minutes to open up properly and show some tannins.
I paired it with cheeses, light appetizers and a great view.
A blend of 34% Garnacha, 33% Monastrell and 33% Syrah.
14% alcohol by volume.
84 points.
$8.

A blend of Garnacha, Monastrell and Syrah. 14% alcohol. Medium full body. Tasting notes of cedar, pine, cocoa, figs. Very nice acidity and medium tannins. Enjoyable for sure. Especially for $5.99. Trader Joe's winner

May 9th, 2018Maybe be the best cheap TJ’s wine I’ve had. Cedar, plum, and a dry finish. Acidity is way lower than a $5.99 wine deserves to be. Winner, winner enchilada dinner!
