Peju Province Winery
H.B. Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Interestingly, Parker doesn't seem to love wines from Peju, most of them scoring poorly, between the mid-70s to low 80s, describing them as "pleasant, but uninspiring." I pondered this while tasting the Peju HB Napa Valley 2005, which actually charmed me with its Old World lightness. Complex notes of scorched earth, plum, dust, black currant, sandalwood, and sort of a wild foresty note that ended in white flowers and anise lead into a wine that doesn't feel heavy, despite it's 15.3% ABV, it has nice bones.

1 person found it helpfulFeb 22nd, 2015Despite a poor vintage in Napa that year...Peju was strong. Color is medium Ruby, not purple, tannins have had time to smooth out. Acid is balanced, alcohol screaming at 15.5. Otherwise nice bottle for bad year.

Oct 13th, 2018This was difficult, the 2nd day was way better than the first day using Coravin.
Would need to retry this.

Still fruit forward. Nicely integrated tannins but still youthful w/o being too hot in one dimension. Really enjoyed and more time will do the vintage well.

May 25th, 2015Really hot on the nose. With some nice Irish earth pushing through and integrated dried fruit. Higher acid finish. Adolescent tannins. Bouncy. High note finish with tangy port wine. 2006 vintage
