Pehu Simonet
Face Nord Grand Cru Extra Brut Champagne Blend
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The wine pours a deep straw, bordering yellow color with medium+ viscosity and a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of raspberries, lemon, brioche, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose though the fruit seem rounder on the palate than on the nose. The finish is medium+. A fairly agreeable Champagne. Disgorged in October 2022.

This was excellent. Much drier than the rest of the champagnes we had during the dinner it was a refreshing change after the RD. It of course had a lot more fruit and a creamier texture (derived from the Chardonnay) and a beautiful minerality. I do love minerality in champagne. I did not feel the contact with skins nor the autolysis as much, but I think the standard the RD had set biased my opinion. I would definitely recommend this for all champagne lovers. For pinot Noir lovers I would say the Pinot was not as present as I would have liked, though I did detect some nice berries and floral aromas on the nose.

Light copper hue. Awesome nose. Dried wild flowers, pink peppercorn (thanks TT), spring meadow, sugar, fresh cut apples, spearmint. It just smells clean and pretty. Palate is broad without weight. Juicy yet ethereal. White strawberry, asian pear, cucumber, minerals. Really cool and really affordable. Disgorged 2/2016

1 person found it helpfulDec 3rd, 2016Delicious - different than any champagne that I've had before. Didn't have the heavy sweetness that even Bruts can have. It was light and flavorful and refreshing.
