San Luigi Dolcetto di Dogliani
#3 of Smithsonian Associates Wines of France and Italy tasting of Northern Italy wines. Very unique and long, smooth finish.

Oct 9th, 2020Great value for such a delicious medium bodied wine. Notes of currants and cherries on the palate with balanced tannins and a moderate finish.

Nov 26th, 2018A really nice wine has a very distinct plum taste with earth, woody after taste, quite acid tart, but this disappears with food. Having this with a nice medium rare steak with red wine jus.

Have been to Piedmont and this is a perfect example of structured Dolcetto. I'm aging another bottle. It can only get better

Nov 6th, 2016Meu primeiro Dolcetto... Foi uma experiência legal pois não conhecia a uva e, pela região, esperava algo mais mineral. Realmente é muito doce mas mesmo assim gostei.

Oct 28th, 2016I don't love Dolcetto's but I keep going back to this one for something slightly different. I avoid their more expensive Dogliano, called Bricco Botti, precisely because its higher extraction and alcohol spoils everything that makes the San Luigi so appealing and drinkable. The flavor concentration and light body on this one and the price point ($16-18) is spot on.
