Sonoma Coast Estate Viognier

Needs time.

Part of a vertical tasting from 07-21. This was in a great place. Acidity is holding these aged wines together nicely.

Fresh. Have been drinking older vintages which seem to be in “dumb” phases. This is hitting on all cylinders.

Full, round mouth feel with flinty notes.

I don’t drink much viognier, but this is quite nice and interesting. Aromatic, round, saline, with supringly good acidity and a clean easy finish. Ripe pear, spiced apple pie and ginger. I could see this working for thanksgiving.

The payoff for keeping this in the cellar for 11 years? Mind blowing candied lemon, candle wax, wet stones, pink peppercorns, and butterscotch. Stunner of a wine. Wonder how many bottles are left out there? I’ve got one more.... how about you @Peay Vineyards?

2013. Very focused. Great acid for Viognier. Nice.

Totally fascinating... Initial suppositions were new world chard because of the oak influence... Once past that, candied citrus and floral notes... Delicious and intriguing.
