Paxton
The Pollinator Series Shiraz
I have had a few Paxton Wines in my time and they have always gone down so well. This McLaren Vale (South Australia) Shiraz is not only preservative-free but is also vegan-friendly and made from biodynamically grown grapes.
As soon as I poured this one into the glass, I couldn’t believe how deep and dark the colour was – you need to get a bottle to see what I mean! Here is what I wrote down about this one:
It’s a super deep, dark, virtually opaque purple-red colour in the glass. The nose is super alluring with rich plums and berry fruits, spice and a savoury earthiness to it. This blockbuster of a wine doesn’t stop there, as in the mouth its big and bold with a massive amount of fruit intensity and a lovely lingering finish.
The longer it sat in the glass and connected with the air, the more it mellowed out to become a super velvety red wine. it was simply yelling out to be teamed with a nice juicy steak or even something quite simple yet comforting like a big bowl of spaghetti bolognese.
