Old world delicious. Bigger than a Pinot, lighter than a cab franc. Split the difference.

Tough year, that 2010 vintage. Achs pulls through. Edelgrund is sandy loam with lots of gravel. Big barrel aging. Spice, dark berries, all about tannin management here.

Dry and tannic with notes of leather and dried cherries. A little tight initially but opens up nicely after sitting about 10 minutes.

Nice work here. Evolved in the glass over two hours and the tannins receded and the core of fruit brightened.
