3 months Bourbon Barrel Aged Zinfandel

Aged for 3 months oak, dark red with black fruit aromas and smoky notes. On the palate ripe blackberry flavors with pepper spice and oaky characters. Medium finish ending with burnt vanilla spice. Ok but not a fan.

Barrel aging adds a richness that is a bit overbearing

Fruity/bourbon on the nose but a subdued jamminess in taste, with an uptick in peppery tannins and a dry/oaky/boozy finish

Interesting! Sweet but smoky. Bourbon flavor really hits on the aftertaste.

Happy sipping, during and after dinner, for Bourbon and Zin fans, because their flavors compliment one another: black pepper spice, blackberry, and vanilla--wonderful with Asian-barbecued beef short ribs, AND rustic cherry tart with toasted almonds and whipped cream (with splash of vanilla)

The combination of a more "concord-ish" grape flavor and the weirdly alcoholy flavor imparted by the bourbon barrel is just not for me.

Nice vanilla finish. Blackberry and pepper to start

First sip was just “okay”, but we paired it with a red chili and dark chocolate for dessert and it solid. Wouldn’t have guessed it was a Zin at first sip. Can taste the vanilla from the bourbon barrels.
