Cherry pie nose. Silky smooth cherry on the palate with cinnamon, ripe strawberry, and clove. Light tannins, medium alcohol, and high acid. This 2016 vintage is the best I’ve tried.

Not a stellar SLH pinot. The nose hints of molasses. Dark cherry predominates on the palate with spice note rising through the finish. The acid is solid throughout, but the experience is uneven.

I wondered why Paraiso marketed an SLH as their “picnic Pinot” value wine. It starts beautifully with smokey cherry and currant, but drops off quickly in the middle and lacks the residual acid sizzle of a good pinot. Very drinkable, but a subpar SLH wine.

Paraiso is back! After a brief hiatus the Paraiso SLH is back, which for years was our go to mid-priced Pinot. Tart and spicy as always, you get dark cherry, strawberry, oak, and white pepper with a hint of the central coast minerals. Burnt notes and moderate acid linger through a long finish. Medium to light bodied, this is not the most complex SLH, but well balanced, smooth, and very approachable.

Finally having the 2008 bottle from @David Wadhwani in 2010 to ring in 2015 instead of champagne. Smooth, light with a hint of smokiness.

Silky smooth start and then the finish explodes with with dark berries. 2007.
