Santa Lucia Highlands Syrah
The age is definitely a bonus for this wine: smoke, rich damp earth, black cherry, plum, a bit of black olive and a hint of tobacco, soft tannins, and a nice pairing with broiled lamb chops. It's not a very complex wine, but a solid Syrah for the price ($26)

Jan 4th, 2016Old world meets new world nose: wet moss, manure, peppermint, vanilla bean, cherry pie - by far the most intriguing part of the wine. Palate is soft and round, dominated by sour cherry candy that gets even more tart, think fresh cranberries on the finish. Drink now.

Mar 8th, 2014My introduction to Santa Lucia highlands Syrah. A great bottle in the $20 range. Pairs well with rack of lamb or a porter house.
