Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

While known almost exclusively for their amazing Merlot, their Cabernet has me mesmerized right now. Deep purple with a violet rim. Toffee and faint eucalyptus and red pepper on the nose. Fruit forward on the palate with flavors of blackberry jam, vanilla and cocoa. Soft tannins complete a medium finish.

Baking spices, mace and cinnamon. Bold berry, vanilla and opens up even more as the your glass rests. Very enjoyable!

Worst cork I have ever had: deteriorated into cork crumbles at first touch. Am a year past peak recommended date for this 2001 vintage, but it’s a poor first impression. First sip reveals this is past its prime, sad that this gift didn’t come with a warning label to drink immediately.

Lingering smooth finish. Excellent cab! More life to this wine. Open my next bottle in another year.
