35 Sangiovese, 35 Cab Sauv, 15 Malbec, 15 merlot. I don't know how they do it but Palmina consistently produces wines not only of great quality but with all of the characteristics you'd expect of a good quality Italian wine. Big punch of flavor, acid and tannin that you just don't see in other Italian varietal American wines.

Steve Clifton has done an amazing job with the 2012 Rea IV. This blend of equal parts Sangiovese and Cab with equal parts Malbec and Merlot is sturdy and made to last, but we drank it last night. It has Cab aromas and structure with the savory and red stone fruit flavors and the earthiness of Sangiovese. If I had known this was a $72 bottle of wine, I would not have poured half a cup into my marinara last night. Now I need to order another bottle!

Black tea on the nose, robust, black cherry, mulberry, tannins on the finish. This should age nicely.
