Olema Wines
Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon

A blend of about 85% Cab Sauvignon with the rest Cab Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot & Petite Sirah, aromas of dark red fruits and some earthy herb spices. The palate shows blackberry with pungent oaky tomato leaf herb spice. Tannins are biting that stick, leaving a medium finish ending spicy. Just ok. Tasting Sample.

I decanted it for 30 plus minutes, made a big difference. Tasted like a $50 cab, paired well with beef tenderloin.

Oak, leather, figs, and blackberries on the nose. Very dark ruby color wine. Good amount of alcohol that comes through and at 14.5% I’m not surprised. Blueberries and cherries with very little lemon. Oak and tannins take you into a long finish. I like this a lot. Strong buy especially at the price.

Jan 25th, 2020I thought this tasted a little too fruity for a Pinot at first but it mellowed and grew on me as I continued to sip. Once my pallette settled this wine had a great flavor. The flavor built thought the duration of each sip but then calmed almost immediately, not leaving an aftertaste but rather a sudden lack of that built-up flavorwhich left me seeking another sip to experience it once more.

Bought at a tasting last night. Great value smooth, medium body Cab.

A little tarte, though improves after a few sips. Good but not great. For the price point (~$25), wouldn’t necessarily rush to buy again. Better off with the Pinot Noir from this vineyard.
