Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Undrinkable chemistry experiment gone horribly wrong. Must have every FDA-approved additive inside.

Feb 18th, 2021Time for my Friday's Cabernet fix. This time it's a tasty Sonoma County Cabernet.
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, black currants, cedar, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, smoke, chocolates, mocha, coffee, leather, caramel and peppercorn.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, black plums, oak, vanilla, licorice, cloves, herbs, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn, light vegetables, earth and herbs.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cranberries.
This Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon is drinking very nicely now, with an enjoyable mouthfeel, nice complexity and balance.
Good by itself or with food. Needs 90 minutes to open up properly and show some tannins, but enjoyable enough right out of the bottle. A very typical (and enjoyable) Sonoma Cabernet.
Peaking now and it won't be as good for long, so if you have one, drink up.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of cheeses and meats.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
$26

2 people found it helpfulNov 27th, 2015A blend of about 85% Cab Sauvignon with the rest Cab Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot & Petite Sirah, aromas of dark red fruits and some earthy herb spices. The palate shows blackberry with pungent oaky tomato leaf herb spice. Tannins are biting that stick, leaving a medium finish ending spicy. Just ok. Tasting Sample.

1 person found it helpfulNov 24th, 2019Deep garnet purple. Black cassis jam and vanilla extract on the nose and fruit-forward medium-full palate. Medium acidity — just enough to make it a worthy food wine — and present but non-aggressive medium tannins on the finish (ditto). If New World Cab is your style (I admit that I prefer old, left bank Bordeaux), then this should easily satisfy as an everyday Cab that’s sturdy enough for the “fine” table. Drink by 2021.
